What will there be to do at this free event?

  • Keep Garland Beautiful Trash Off

  • Recycling Center Tours will be held at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1 p.m.

  • Face Painting & Bounce Houses

  • Educational Games & Prizes

  • Free Food

  • New Features:

    • Armadillo Races

    • Toilet Races

    • VBike Test Drives

    • Seed Stomp

    • More Exhibitors

  • Recyclables collected during the event:

    • Bicycles

    • Cooking Oil, Fat, Grease

    • Durable Medical Equipment such as Walkers & Wheelchairs
    • Electronics
    • Eyeglasses

    • Metal

    • Motor Oil, Oil Filters

    • Single-Stream Recycling: Mixed Paper, Cardboard, Plastic, Glass

  • Free shredding provided on-site for Garland residents

    • Must show ID with Garland address

    • Limit of 4 Boxes per Household

The City’s Earth Day Celebration is presented by Garland’s Stormwater Management, Water Utilities, Parks Recreation & Cultural Arts departments, Office of Neighborhood Vitality, Garland Power & Light, Keep Garland Beautiful and Garland Independent School District.

Recycled Art Competition

Open to kindergarten through fifth grade students to express their artistic ability using recyclable materials.  View Competition Guidelines or Download Entry Form

  • Create a piece of art which shows the importance of recycling and reuse to keep materials out of the landfill.

    • Winners announced at noon

    • Prizes awarded in two groups

      • K-2nd grade and 3rd – 5th grade:

        1st Place: $250

        2nd Place: $150

        3rd Place: $100
