Fluids leaking from vehicles onto our streets can cause water pollution. When it rains, automotive fluids on our roadways flow down the storm drains. These storm drains to carry the polluted water to our local waterways.
- Avoid hosing down garage floors and driveways; instead sweep regularly and discard in trash.
- Clean up automotive spills with absorbent material and dispose of it properly.
- Keep vehicles maintained to reduce leaks and emissions.
- Use a commercial car wash facility. These facilities drain the contaminated water to the sanitary sewer for treatment.
Take used fluids and filters to the Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center or to Garland's Recycling Center.
