The Centerville Marketplace Repositioning Strategy will put in place the framework for the public and private sector to partner on transforming an important commercial district experiencing distress into a vibrant mixed-use district that capitalizes on its existing assets and anticipates new trends in the marketplace. This strategy will be crafted in collaboration with developers, brokers, business and property owners, and resident leaders in and adjacent to the study area, and in partnership with the Garland Chamber of Commerce and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). Lessons learned from this strategy can be applied to other centers throughout Garland.
On Wednesday, November 6, 2013, the City of Garland hosted a second public meeting related to the project. The forum offered attendees a progress report on the study and an opportunity to discuss the vision for the area. Residents, business owners, and all others interested in the future and vitality of the area were invited to attend.
Previous public input opportunities included an Open House on April 11, 2013, and a series of focus groups for residents, business owners, and other area stakeholders during Summer 2013, and a second public meeting on November 6, 2013. The feedback we received though these activities has been invaluable to the project.
