7:00 PMAdult Summer Reading Program: Master Gardener, Brad Sandy at the Central Library

Mr. Sandy will present “Five Tips for Homeowners,” a presentation that focuses on lawn care. Attendees will learn how to make their lawns, flowerbeds, and trees look better while using less water.

7 p.m., Thursday, July 30, at the Central Library

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, this event is part of the Adult Summer Reading Program. It is free and open to the public. Registration is not required, but seating is limited. 2:30 PMArt Explorers: Optical Illusions at the Walnut Creek Branch Library

Children can discover optical illusion art at Art Explorers, a monthly program for children ages 6 through 12. At the August event, participants will study optical illusion art, then create a twist toy and a handprint, both of which incorporate optical illusions.

Registration is required to attend each Art Explorer program and is limited to 24 participants. All Block Party in the Library events are free and open to children ages 4 through 12 and their caregivers. Children ages 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult in order to attend. The purpose of the Library Board is to advise the City Council on problems relating to the Public Library and to recommend plans and programs to promote the library system for the city. The Board approves library policies, long range plans, and other pertinent documents as they are recommended by Claire Bausch, Director of Libraries.

Monday, February 9, 6 p.m. at the Central Library

They meet monthly on second Mondays at 6 p.m. in the Library’s Board room. All meetings are open to the public unless the Board goes into executive session. Meeting agendas and approved minutes are posted on the library website www.nmls.lib.tx.us for citizen review.

The Friends of the Library meet bi-monthly on the third Monday of the month, 5 p.m. at the Central Library. Anyone interested in the activities of the Friends is welcome to attend. For more information visit the Friends of the Library page call 972-205-2543.

Friends of the Nicholson Memorial Library is a community organization supporting and promoting the Library. The Friends sponsors activities to raise funds for the purchase of library materials and equipment, and underwrites programming to benefit all library users.
