Explore the properties of electricity through Squishy Circuits. Mold the dough to any shape, creating fun, lit sculptures.

Fire and Ice: “This explosive and entertaining auditorium show teaches about matter in a unique way. Your students will see firsthand how matter changes when we add and remove extreme amounts of heat. The program covers states of matter, basic behavior of atoms and molecules, physical and chemical changes of matter and more!”

This dynamic program covers a range of content, with topics including static and current electricity, the relationship between electricity and magnetism, and how electricity is used in our daily lives.”

4:00 PMTween Scene July: Needlecraft at the North Garland Branch Library

The theme for the July Tween Scene events is “A Stitch in Time.” Program attendees will discuss novels of historical fiction, then learn sewing techniques from Garland Quilt Guild members.

2:00 PMMovie: Jaws at the Central Library

Just in time for Shark Week and the fortieth anniversary of the film’s release, come watch Jaws at the Central Library. Each attendee will be entered into a raffle to win Jaws memorabilia, such as a DVD of the film or a movie poster. Doors open 15 minutes prior to the event. Seating is limited. No registration is required, but seating is limited. Popcorn and water will be available while supplies last.

The film is rated PG, but due to elements of horror, this event is recommended for teens and adults. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. 2:30 PMArt Explorers July: Abstract Art at the Walnut Creek Branch Library

Children attending Art Explorers, a monthly program for children ages 6 through 12, learn about different types of art, then use their new skills to create their own masterpieces. At the July event, participants will discover the art of Piet Mondrian, then use geometric shapes and primary colors to make their own abstract art.
