2:30 PMBlock Party in the South Garland Branch Library

Block Party in the Library is designed to help children ages 4 through 12 test their building skills and stretch their imaginations while having fun. Each program challenges participants to use building blocks to create structures based on a predetermined theme within one hour.

2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, May 30, South Garland Branch Library

All Block Party in the Library events are free and open to children ages 4 through 12 and their caregivers. Children ages 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult in order to attend. The Library provides all supplies used at these events. Please be aware that photographs and video may be taken at Library programs for use in print and/or electronic media at the Library’s discretion. 6:00 PMLibrary Board Monthly Meeting at the Central Library

The purpose of the Library Board is to advise the City Council on problems relating to the Public Library and to recommend plans and programs to promote the library system for the city. The Board approves library policies, long range plans, and other pertinent documents as they are recommended by Claire Bausch, Director of Libraries.

Monday, February 9, 6 p.m. at the Central Library

They meet monthly on second Mondays at 6 p.m. in the Library’s Board room. All meetings are open to the public unless the Board goes into executive session. Meeting agendas and approved minutes are posted on the library website www.nmls.lib.tx.us for citizen review.

The Friends of the Library meet bi-monthly on the third Monday of the month, 5 p.m. at the Central Library. Anyone interested in the activities of the Friends is welcome to attend. For more information visit the Friends of the Library page call 972-205-2543.

Friends of the Nicholson Memorial Library is a community organization supporting and promoting the Library. The Friends sponsors activities to raise funds for the purchase of library materials and equipment, and underwrites programming to benefit all library users.

Garland Libraries will be closed Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. The Central Library will reopen on Sunday, July 5 and libraries will resume normal hours.

During library closures:
Wireless access will remain on at all Library buildings
Online Resources are always available to card holders
Access the library catalog to search and place holds
Access to My Account is also available to renew your materials.
