The City of Garland's Housing and Community Services Department is responsible for revitalizing neighborhoods by providing safe and affordable housing for low to moderate income households, providing funding to create or maintain a supportive social environment, and expanding economic opportunities to residents of Garland.
Housing and Community Services activities are primarily funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnership (HOME) and the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) programs administered by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
If you are interested in learning more about Housing and Community Services Department's funding and activities, please view the programs and information below, click on the Grants Report to the right or contact us at 972-205-2130.
Prior to receiving the yearly funding allocations, the City actively seeks input through a number of different avenues including a series of neighborhood meetings, a citizen survey and meetings with stakeholder groups. The input provides guidance to City Council as they allocate funding to the various activities.
