The Public Works Design Guideline in intended to define minimum requirements and general procedures used in the design and submittal of construction plans for proposed public works projects. Since this manual is general, it is recommended that the engineer/developer consult with the City of Garland Engineering Department staff to discuss any unique issues to the project.
In conjunction with the City of Garland updating its development codes, into one cohesive document known as the Garland Development Code (GDC), the Engineering Department has created a Technical Standards Manual (TSM). The purpose of the manual is to ensure that all public infrastructure in the City is designed and constructed to the highest standards. The TSM shall be adopted with the GDC and once adopted, the TSM shall replace the Public Works Design Guideline from 1996 and the Traffic Management Standards from 1996 in their entirety.
